Ekos reveals industry insights in its 2022 State of Technology Adoption report
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (Feb. 17, 2022) — Ekos, the leading business management winery software, released its 2022 State of Technology Adoption in the Wine Industry report. This year’s report found that while some wineries are embracing technology, nearly 50% use spreadsheets to track key business functions such as wine production and inventory management.
The world has changed significantly since Ekos’s last State of Technology report in 2020, as wineries face challenges with the global supply chain, climate change and distributor consolidation. But the 2022 report found that the challenge of technology adoption remains constant. Many wineries rely on outdated, disconnected systems to manage their businesses, creating silos between teams. Owners and managers struggle to get clear visibility into important metrics, often hindering their ability to run the business efficiently.
Beyond large industry trends, the State of Technology Adoption in the Wine Industry report includes insights into:
- How wineries grade themselves on technology adoption in 2022 versus the previous survey in 2020
- The technology wineries say they can’t live without
- What tools wineries are using to run their businesses
- Tips for using technology to improve operational efficiency and power growth
“A consistent challenge we hear across the wine — and greater alcoholic beverage — industry is the difficulty of managing and making sense of data in disparate, disconnected systems. Our State of Technology report dives into how wineries are currently using technology and areas of opportunity,” said Ekos CEO Josh McKinney. “We want to help wineries understand the impact that technology can have on their business to help them grow, despite foreseen and unforeseen challenges that arise.”
